The library has a collection of 53,300 volumes in print encompassing current fiction and non-fiction for children, young adults and adults. Over 200 volumes pertaining to the Civil War available for reference, and displays of Civil War memorabilia.
Periodicals and Newspapers:
Current hardcopy magazines and newspapers are available for patrons to enjoy while visiting the library. Back issues of magazines up to one year are available. Magazines and newspapers may not be checked out.
Audio Material:
Books on Cassette and CD are available for checkout. These include fiction, non-fiction and music.
Video Material:
Videos and DVD's may be checked out on an adult card. These include recreational and educational topics.
Special Services:
Pre-school Children's Story Time: Wednesday 9:30-10:00 am
Children enjoy stories, music, special guests and crafts.
Dial-A-Story:
Available any time by calling 586-4600. Listen to a short children's story. Stories change weekly. Sponsored by the Arab Friends of the Library.
Summer Reading Program:
The library offers a professional quality summer reading program to all children from toddlers to teens. The program encourages children to read for pleasure and is designed to keep children reading year-round. The program also provides an opportunity for children to use computers, search the Internet and socialize with peers. Incentive prizes, entertaining programs and end of summer pool party are all part of the program.

This is a non-profit organization, operated on a strictly volunteer basis. Membership is $10.00 per year. Meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 am in the library. The Friends operate a used book store located behind the Arab Public Library. All proceeds are used to purchase items for the library. Bookstore hours are Wednesday 10:00 am- 4:30 pm and Saturday 9:00 am- 2:30 pm.
