The Library holds more than 14,000 titles. Materials are separated into Adult fiction and non-fiction, Young Adult ficition and non-fiction, Juvinille fiction and non-fiction, and Childrens easy books and non-fiction. All regularly circuclating materials are avalible for 21 day check out. The Library also holds audio books on disk and over 250 DVD's and BluRay disks that are avalible for limited 10 day check out. The library offers an e-audio and e-book collection available through Camellia Net.

The library offers free Wi-Fi and ten public computers with Internet access and word processing software. HBPL also offers printing and copying services. HBPL has access to Ancestry Library Edition genealogy program, and professional and consumer Merck Manuals online. HBPL also has Homework Alabama, an online tutoring service, available free through the Alabama Public Library Service. Through APLS, the library also gives patrons access to Chilton Library, a complete auto repair database, in the library and on mobile devices
