The library sponsors an annual Summer Program for children K through 6th grade. Outreach services are provided to three Head Start Programs and the Crossville Nursing Home.

Library History:

The library was founded in 1971 by the Crossville Woman's Club, with the support of the Crossville Jaycees, Home Demonstration Club and the Crossville School P.T.O. In the early years the library was completely run by volunteers. The library moved several times and on November 26, 1995 it was moved to its present location. The current location was purchased by the Crossville Town Council and was renovated with funds generated through many fund raising projects and private donations through the Friends of the Library. The books themselves were donated by local residents and/or supplied by loans from the Dekalb County Library in Ft. Payne, Alabama. Today the library is supported financially by the Crossville Town Council, Dekalb County Commissioners, and the state of Alabama through the Alabama Public Library System.

With the help of Elizabeth Hearn, our current librarian, and assistant Sheri Bradford, the library is open about 34 hours per week. Volunteers continue to be an invaluable asset to the library. The Library Board is responsible for overseeing the functions of the library. Its members are appointed by the Crossville Town Council and it meets the second Tuesday of the month at the library. Public participation is welcome.

Circulation was automated in 2007. The library is fully automated with the
Dekalb County Public Library and other libraries in the county to share
online circulation data.
