Library Policies

INTERNET AND COMPUTER RULES:

Access is granted to anyone school age (7 years) and up having an up-to-date and trouble-free Odenville Public Library card. If you do not have a library card, please apply at the circulation desk.

For all computers, children 7 - 12 must have a parent, grandparent, or guardian with them at the computer. Parent/Guardian is resonsible for the child and must sit with the child at all times.

. No obscene language via the internet
. No harassing or insulting others via the internet
. No violating federal copyright laws
. No downloading, displaying or transmitting offensive messages or pictures
. No damaging computers or computer systems or software
. No attempting to breach computer security
. No leaving the computer unattended
. No horseplay, No CELL phone calls in the library.
. No saving files to hard drive
. No altering option settings
. No sharing account with others. This may cause termination of your account.

E-mail accounts are the user's responsibility. The library does not provide email access through the library email.

SAFE CHILD POLICY:

Children age six and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult (age 18 or older) at ALL times while in the library. The library cannot assume responsibility for the safety of young children.

Children ages seven through ten must have a responsible adult present inside the library. All Patrons will be expected to display appropriate behavior, conducive to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere while in the building. Staff will not provide transportation to children who have been left at the library at closing. Instead, staff will contact the Odenville Police Department to report that a child has been left at the library and will wait until police arrive to claim the child.

PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS, NOT LIBRARY STAFF, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS AND SAFETY OF CHILDREN VISITING THE LIBRARY.

NEW LIBRARY CARDS:

Library cards are given at no cost for residents of the Odenville community with proof of residence. Proof of residence is a state issued photo ID plus a piece of current mail. If the address does not match (just moved to town, etc) we require the state issued photo ID plus two pieces of official current mail in your name (such as utility bill), to your current address. Library cards are updated annually.

FINES:

Overdue books are .15 per day.
Overdue movies are $1.00 per day.
Items that are lost or damaged will be charged at the cost of the item plus a $5.00 processing fee.
